Graphics for classic and modern Japanese bikes

The look of a Japanese bike often comes down to its stripes and panel graphics. Capturing that feel in a design of your own takes careful measuring and colour choices.

Why choose custom stickers for a Japanese motorcycle?

Japanese bikes from the seventies, eighties and nineties are famous for bold stripes and colour-blocked tanks. Many owners restoring one want graphics with that period feel, but in a design of their own rather than a copy.

On modern machines, owners use custom graphics to cover scuffed fairings, add a personal colour accent or give a common commuter model some individuality.

Printed stickers are also reversible. You can change the look for a new season, or return the bike to plain paint before selling it.

Popular uses for Japanese motorcycle stickers

Owners of Japanese bikes order graphics for:

  • Classic restorations – period-inspired stripe sets in your own design.
  • Café racer and scrambler conversions – number roundels and simple tank graphics.
  • Sports bikes – fairing accents and personal race-style panels.
  • Commuter 125s – subtle stripes and name decals.
  • Touring bikes – pannier and fairing graphics for long-distance riders.

Materials, shapes and sizes

Thin, conformable outdoor vinyl suits tanks and fairings. Metallic vinyl works well for pinstripes and accents that recall older paint schemes, while full-colour printing handles gradients and multi-colour stripes in one piece.

Stripes on a tank should usually be printed as mirrored left and right pieces. Measure along the curve of the tank with a flexible tape, and take photographs square-on to each side.

Side panels on many classic bikes are removable, which makes them easy to measure and lets you apply graphics on a bench rather than on the bike.

Colour choices and restoration practicalities

Printed vinyl and factory paint are made in different ways, so an exact match to an original colour is not always possible. Tell us the paint colour you are working with, and consider stripe colours that complement it rather than attempting a perfect match.

Apply graphics only to fully cured paint. After a respray, follow your painter’s advice on how long to wait before adding stickers.

Keep graphics away from the exhaust, engine and filler cap, and consider a laminate to protect tank stripes from the rubbing of knees and tank bags.

How custom graphics finish a project

The stripes are often the last job on a restoration, and the one that makes the bike look complete. Getting the proportions right is what separates a convincing period look from a clumsy one.

On a modern bike, a restrained graphic can make a mass-produced machine feel personal without shouting about it.

FAQs

Honda Motorcycle Stickers questions, answered

Can you print Honda logos or original factory decals?

We cannot print protected logos, badges or factory decal designs without the rights holder’s permission. If you own the rights or have permission, tell us when you order; original designs inspired by the style you like are always welcome.

Can you make retro-style stripes for my classic bike?

Yes, from your own design. Many owners draw stripes that capture a period feel with their own colours and proportions, and we print them to your measurements.

Can you match my bike’s paint colour exactly?

An exact match between printed vinyl and paint is not always achievable. Give us the colour you are working with and we will explain how close we can get, or suggest complementary shades.

Should tank stripes be one piece or two?

Usually two mirrored pieces, one for each side of the tank. They are easier to align and apply than a single piece stretched over the top.

Can I put graphics on a freshly painted tank?

Wait until the paint has fully cured, following your painter’s guidance, because applying vinyl too soon can mark fresh paint.

Will the stickers stand up to riding in the rain?

Outdoor vinyl copes with rain and washing, and a laminate adds protection where knees and bags rub. Keep pressure washers away from the edges.

How long will my motorcycle graphics take?

Graphics are produced in 10–12 working days after the proof is approved, then delivered. Allow for this if the bike is going to a show.
