Sealing equipment, cabinets and casings

Seals on equipment work differently from seals on packaging. They sit on hard surfaces, often for months, and need to show interference after handling, cleaning and transport.

Why use tempering stickers on equipment?

Whenever equipment leaves your control – hired out, installed at a customer site or handed to staff – there is a chance someone opens it. A seal over the casing screw or panel join does not stop them, but it tells you afterwards, which is often what matters when a unit comes back damaged.

Seals also protect calibration and settings. Engineers use them to show that an instrument, meter or controller has not been adjusted since it was last checked.

For IT and facilities teams, a quick look at a sealed port cover or cabinet door is far faster than a full inspection, which makes routine checks realistic.

Where equipment seals are used

Tempering stickers are applied to:

Materials, sizes and surfaces

Equipment surfaces are usually smooth plastic, painted metal or bare metal. A seal on these surfaces must grip firmly, yet a strong ordinary vinyl can sometimes be lifted in one piece with patience. That is why the construction matters more here than on most stickers.

Numbering, records and procedure

A seal becomes far more useful when it carries a unique number that is written into a service log or hire record. If the number on the returned unit does not match, the seal has been replaced.

Ask about sequential numbering when you request a quote, and consider a short line such as ‘void if removed’ or ‘authorised service only’ so people understand what the seal means.

Seals indicate possible interference but do not prevent access. Make sure your terms with customers or staff explain what a broken seal means, as we only supply the printed labels.
