Rim decals must be light, thin and sized precisely, and they must stay well clear of braking surfaces. Measure carefully and the result looks factory-finished.
Why choose custom bicycle wheel stickers?
Rims are one of the most visible parts of a bike in motion. Fresh decals transform worn or plain wheels, and custom designs let you match your frame colours or club kit.
For independent wheel builders and bike shops, branded rim decals are a mark of craftsmanship. They show who built the wheel and help customers recommend you.
Riders also use rim decals to personalise unbranded or aftermarket wheels, adding a finished look without buying new rims.
Popular uses for bicycle wheel stickers
Rim decals are ordered for:
- Wheel builders – workshop branding on hand-built wheels.
- Bike shops – house-brand wheelsets and refurbishments.
- Club and team bikes – rim colours matching team kit.
- Restorations – refreshing decals on classic and vintage wheels.
- Visibility accents – reflective strips for commuters.
- Personal builds – names and designs on custom bikes.
Materials, sizes and finishes
Rim decals are printed on thin, flexible vinyl so they sit flat on the rim wall and add negligible weight. A gloss or matte laminate matches the finish of most rims and protects against road grit.
Measure the height of the flat rim wall between the tyre bead and the spoke bed, and the length available between valve hole and any existing markings. Deep-section rims give much more space than shallow alloy rims.
Reflective rim decals bounce back light from car headlights, a practical addition for commuters, but they do not replace the lights you need for riding at night.
Brakes, placement and application
Never put stickers on the braking track of a rim-brake wheel. They can interfere with braking and will quickly be destroyed. Keep decals on the section of rim wall below the brake track.
On disc-brake wheels, the whole rim wall is usually available, but keep decals away from the tyre bead and the valve hole.
Clean the rim with isopropyl alcohol, position with low-tack tape, and apply slowly from one end, smoothing along the curve to avoid creases.
How rim decals help your brand
For wheel builders and shops, rim decals are a signature seen on every ride, in club photos and race footage. They quietly promote your workshop to other cyclists who ask where the wheels came from.
Consistent decals across your wheelsets also make your own brand look established next to large manufacturers.
Builders who offer several rim depths can keep one design and scale it for each, so the branding stays consistent from shallow training wheels to deep aero sets.

Bicycle Wheel Stickers questions, answered
Can I put stickers on a rim-brake wheel?
Only on the part of the rim wall away from the braking track. Stickers on the braking surface can affect braking and will not survive.
How do I measure my rims for decals?
Measure the height of the flat rim wall where the decal will sit and the length available around the rim. Photographs with a ruler help us check the space.
Do rim decals affect wheel balance?
Thin vinyl decals are extremely light, and matching decals on opposite sides of the wheel keep things symmetrical.
Can wheel builders order branded decals?
Yes. Many independent builders and shops order their own branded rim decals. Send your logo and preferred sizes for each rim depth you use.
Can you reproduce rim manufacturer decals?
Only if you own the brand or have permission. Original designs and your own shop branding are always fine.
Will reflective decals make me visible at night?
Reflective decals help by catching headlights, but they do not replace front and rear lights. Always use the lights required for riding in the dark.
How long will my wheel decals take?
Once your proof is approved, wheel decals take 10–12 working days to produce. If a wheel build is waiting on them, let us know your deadline.
