For drawings and handwriting, a flatbed scanner at 300 DPI or higher gives the cleanest result. If you use a phone, photograph in daylight, hold the phone directly above the paper and avoid shadows falling across the page.
Draw with a dark pen or marker on plain white paper. Pencil lines are faint and can disappear, and lined or coloured paper adds texture that has to be removed later.
For photos, send the original file rather than a screenshot or a picture saved from social media, which are compressed and lose detail. For logos, ask whoever designed it for a vector version.
