A recycling point only works if someone standing over it with a coffee cup can decide in two seconds. That comes down to colour, a clear icon, a few words and a sticker placed where eyes naturally fall.

Why use custom recycle stickers?

Generic bin labels rarely match what your collector actually accepts. Designing labels that reduce mistakes

Lead with colour and a picture of the actual items – a bottle, a tin, a newspaper – rather than an abstract symbol. Keep the heading to one or two words and put the ‘no’ items underneath in a contrasting panel.

Place labels at eye level on the lid or upper front, not low down where they are hidden by other bins. On a row of containers, repeat the same layout so only colour and icon change from one bin to the next.

Collection rules change when contracts are renewed, so check what your council or waste contractor currently accepts before finalising wording. A small date or version code in the corner makes it easy to spot outdated labels later.
